Academic Life is designed to inspire a lifetime of learning. Our curriculum is challenging and taught by experienced teachers. BD faculty averages 15 years teaching experience, and 43% have earned Master's Degrees. The student/teacher ratio is 14:1, offering benefits of a small class environment.
We reward academic excellence. Qualifying students receive a letter and jacket for their academic success.
Bishop Dwenger is a 1:1 school where each student utilizes a laptop computer to enhance the learning process. The school uses PowerSchool and CANVAS among other educational programs.
We offer three diplomas: Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors, and Core 40 with Technical Honors.

Project Lead the Way: Biomedical Program
Through a sequence of four courses, students will learn about various fields in the medical profession, culminating in the capstone course their senior year. Intended for those wishing to someday have a career in the field of medicine, this program will expose students to professions including but not limited to nursing, physicianship, physical therapy, sports medicine, biomedical engineering, environmental science, epidemiology, and genetics. After application and acceptance into the program, students will solve real world problems with a hands-on approach to learning. The program is designed to explore local and global health challenges. Labs are modeled after the skills that medical professionals use every day. By applying in year one, students are making the commitment to the program for the four-year duration as along as prerequisites are met annually.

Career Academy at Anthis
Multiple career-technical education programs are available at the Career Academic at Anthis including, but not limited to, Health Sciences, Automotive, Construction Trades, Cosmetology, Information Technology, Culinary Arts, Manufacturing, and Public Safety. Many programs offer industry certifications and dual college credit. Most programs are half-day with the AM program meeting from 7:40 - 10:30 AM and the PM program from 11:10 - 2:00 PM. Both the Fire Science and Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice program sites are at the Public Safety Academy at Southtown Centre. Many Anthis programs require uniforms, safety equipment, memberships to National Organizations, and/or tools that are purchased by the students. Class space is limited in all programs.
NOTE: Bishop Dwenger students may only participate in AM Career Academy programs unless the program is not offered in the AM session. Transportation is the student's responsibility. For more information, visit https://careeracademy.fortwayneschools.org/.

ABC Construction Prep Academy
At ABC, we believe in classical education style. Our course combines hands-on experience (through work in our lab and through job site field trips) with book learning. Together, ABC finds this traditional education style is most beneficial to our students. The Prep Academy I course offers students an introduction to the various construction trades offered by ABC, supplemented with additional safety training certifications and field trips. This course is available for all high school Juniors or Seniors. Juniors who have successfully completed Prep Academy I are eligible to continue with Prep Academy II their senior year. In Prep Academy II, students are enrolled in the Level I apprenticeship program will choose a trade to specialize in. This gives Prep Academy students a one year head start on their career as a Craft Professional.

Amp Lab at Electric Works
Amp Lab at Electric Works is a half-day entrepreneurship program for Juniors and Seniors located on the Electric Works campus. The program is an IDOE Graduation Pathway aligned experience that students can attend for either one or two years. Students immerse themselves in a problem-solving design think tank and launchpad focused on making our community a better place. By focusing on entrepreneurial spirit, design processes, and industry skill-sets, Amp Lab strives to give students a seat at the table. Students are empowered to take ownership of his/her own path forward and redefine what is possible by engaging with challenges in the four studios that will make an immediate impact and ripple effect on the community. Coursework is aligned with Indiana Tech’s dual credit program.

Naturalization Exam State Report
As part of State Law, for US Government courses a Civics (Naturalization) Exam is administered. The following must be reported:(1) The number of students who took the naturalization examination; (2) The number of students who passed the naturalization examination by a score of no less than sixty percent (60%) on their first attempt; and (3) The pass rate of the naturalization examination for the students who participated.
